Protection of Private Information
Pursuant to La. C.C.P. art. 253 and La. C.Cr.P. art. 14.1, filers are responsible for ensuring that private information is not included in any filing. No filing shall include the first five digits of any Social Security number, tax identification numbers, state identification numbers, driver’s license numbers, financial account numbers, full dates of birth, or any information protected from disclosure by state or federal law.
Fax Filing Prohibited Effective January 1, 2026
Pursuant to Act No. 352, House Bill No. 310 of the 2025 Regular Legislative Session, as well as Act No. 694, House Bill No. 380 of the 2024 Regular Legislative Session, and as incorporated into Louisiana Code of Civil Procedure Article 253(B)(2)-(3), fax filings will no longer be accepted for civil or criminal matters effective January 1, 2026.
Beginning January 1, 2026:
- All filings submitted by an attorney must be filed in person in paper form or transmitted electronically through a system established by a clerk of court or by the Louisiana Clerks’ Remote Access Authority (LCRAA) **See Note below**.
- Fax filings and filings submitted by U.S. Mail, by attorneys, will no longer be accepted for purposes of filing. **See Note below**.
- Filings submitted by non-attorneys may be filed by mail, other commercial courier service, in person, or electronically through an approved electronic filing system. **See Note below**.

Certain documents, such as original wills or testaments, promissory notes, and certain evidence, may still be subject to specific filing requirements; however, fax filing is prohibited for all filings effective January 1, 2026.
This statutory requirement is mandatory, and this office is obligated to ensure full compliance. Filers are encouraged to review the applicable Acts and update their filing practices accordingly.
